Attorney Ebony Woodruff (D-Harvey) has become the new state
rep for District 87. She was the only person who qualified for a proposed
special election to replace former State Rep. Girod Jackson. Jackson resigned
after he was charged with fraud and failure to file income taxes.
Woodruff was an Assistant Parish Attorney for Jefferson
Parish. She says that she will focus on education and crime to improve her
district.
She will serve out the remainder of Jackson’s unexpired
term.
District 87 includes portions of Harvey and Marrero.
