Details for Governor Bobby Jindal's plan to eliminate the state income tax and increase the state sales tax, will be released next week in time for state lawmakers to analyze and discuss them before the legislative session begins.
The legislative session begins April 8th and hearings on the budget are scheduled to begin on March 19th.
The plan is expected to propose eliminating all personal and corporate income taxes, along with corporate franchise fees while increasing the state sales tax by 1.78% to 5.78% and eliminating many tax exemptions. It would also extend the sales tax to many services that are currently not subject to sales taxes.
